Canadian Society for the Study of Religion / La Société canadienne pour l'étude de la religion
The Canadian Society for the Study of Religion is a Canadian academic society oriented to the scholarly study of religion. They foster an interdisciplinary environment and welcome participation from scholars (professors and students alike) engaged in a many different academic approaches to the study of religion (e.g., anthropology, history, phenomenology, philosophy, psychology, sociology, theology). Their aim is to encourage research in the development of the study of religion, with particular reference to Canada and to promote a critical examination of the goals, methods, and styles of teaching demanded by the discipline. In addition, the CSSR/SCÉR maintains close liaison with the Société québécoise pour l'étude de la religion and holds membership, as a Society, in the International Association for the History of Religions (IAHR).
Your membership pays your CSSR dues, CFH dues, and (unless you are an associate member) a subscription to Studies in Religion. In addition, your membership entitles you to receive the bi-annual Bulletin of the Society and to submit papers to the Programme Committee for consideration for presentation at the Annual Meeting. It does not cover your registration fee for the Annual Meeting.
